In an announcement on Tuesday, Roku revealed its collaboration with Shopify, enabling users to conveniently purchase products from Shopify merchants using their TVs.

Through this partnership, viewers can engage with a Roku Action Ad associated with a Shopify merchant by utilizing their TV remote. Roku Action Ads are advertisements that offer various options such as sending users a text, prompting them to scan a QR code, or making a direct purchase on the screen. By utilizing Roku Pay, Roku's payments platform, users can seamlessly complete their purchases. Following the transaction processing, the merchant will send an email confirmation of the order to the customer.

Roku and Shopify's integration aims to enhance the user's streaming experience by facilitating purchases without any disruptions. Additionally, these ads offer Shopify advertisers valuable customer data and insights into purchasing trends.

Peter Hamilton, senior director of ad innovation at Roku, expressed his excitement about the industry-first Shopify purchase experience on television, highlighting the innovative opportunities that drew him to Roku. During the alpha testing phase, three brands, namely True Classic (a men's apparel brand), Olly (a wellness company), and Ergatta (a game-based connected rower) have become initial partners, participating in the shoppable ad testing on Roku's platform. These partnerships allow Roku to refine its experience in collaboration with its partners.
