Is It Easy To Return An Item?
Yes, simply give us a call at 888.899.8776 or you can email our support team at support@audioadvice.com. Many times our team of experts can help figure out why the product might not be working like you expected and get things fixed over the phone, so don’t be surprised if we ask a few questions, we love troubleshooting!
If our tech help can not make you happy, we will email over a return shipping label with a Return Number.
Hopefully, you saved all of the original item’s box and packaging inserts. You will want to pack back up your return or exchange in the same way it came out of the original box. Once you have everything packaged correctly, tape the box on the top and bottom to assure it stays together. If Audio Advice shipped the item to you inside a second box, it's a good idea to use that same extra box to help prevent damage on its way back to us. To avoid it accidentally coming back to you, use a magic marker to cross out the old shipping label or just tear it off.
The return shipping label we send you will have our address on it, just make sure you take the box to the right shipper (UPS, FEDEX, or USPS) as per the label.
If you are close to one of our stores, please let us know if it is more convenient for you to return it to us directly. You will still need to get a return number by contacting us and shipping and/or restocking charges may apply.
When Will I See My Refund?
It usually takes around 7-14 days for the refund to show up on the payment method you used. We do inspect all returns for damage and accuracy of the item inside the box before issuing a refund. Some items may be subject to shipping and restocking fees.
Can I Exchange My Purchase For Something Different?
Sometimes those big speakers just don’t fit in the room or you might have bought a small subwoofer and later found out you’d love a bigger one. If you would like to make an exchange within 30 days of receiving your item, just give us a call at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com and we will help work out the details. Additional shipping charges and return costs may apply.
How Do I Cancel An Order?
If the item has already shipped out or is a special order item, it is not possible to cancel the order. Please contact us at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com to start the return process.
What If I Find Shipping Damage?
We need to know right away about any shipping damage. Please contact us at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com within 48 hours of your delivery so we can get the ball rolling on making things right. It’s very helpful to take some pictures and email them to us if possible.
Can I Refuse A Shipment?
You can, but unless the item is damaged, shipping and restocking fees will be deducted from your refund. If your item arrives damaged and you are lucky enough to be there, snap some quick pics and refuse the order. Then contact us so we can get a replacement on the way.
What Happens If My Order Is Defective?
This is actually pretty rare, most consumer electronics work fine out of the box 99.9% of the time. We’d like for you to contact us first by calling 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com so we can help get to the bottom of things. If your item is indeed defective during the first 30 days, we can usually exchange it for a new, replacement unit.
What About Service After 30 Days?
Audio Advice has a great relationship with all of our brands and can help you with warranty service by the brand after our 30-day guarantee period. Even after the warranty expires, we can arrange for service by the brand on products purchased from Audio Advice. Just call 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com.
How Do You Determine A Restocking Fee?
You may not believe it, but sometimes we receive items back that were put in the box with zero packaging and are completely destroyed or are missing many of the pieces that came with the item. We also track serial numbers and will get back different serial numbers. We’ve even seen different items than what we shipped out be returned. However, it’s very important to package your return properly so that nothing goes missing or gets damaged in shipping, which will result in a restocking fee or even no refund at all. If a product is opened and the market value of the product is reduced, then a restocking fee may be applied to the cost of restocking and the reduced market value of the product. The bottom line is if you treat us fairly, we will do the same.
Audio Advice strives to provide industry-leading support and service while also maintaining the lowest prices available on products for our customers. We work hard with our vendors to bring our customers the best products at each price point. As a part of that process, we work with our vendors to provide the lowest pricing in our stores and on our website.
Our prices should always be the same as any other authorized dealer, including big-box retailers and major online retailers.
If you believe that you have found a lower advertised price from a legitimate authorized seller, call us and let us know so we can make sure we can correct any inadvertent error on our side. As a matter of policy, we update our prices automatically if a vendor changes its authorized pricing policies, so we generally have the best prices all the time. Increasingly, there are knock-off copies of products online, usually sold by non-authorized dealers.
Please be sure that the item meets the following conditions:
- The item is brand new, in stock, and available for purchase
- The item has the identical model number, color, etc as the item on our site.
- The seller is an authorized dealer
As always, our goal is to provide a terrific customer experience, including industry low prices. We appreciate your support.

The High Notes
Eight Outputs, Four Zones
Up to 24 Speakers
Runs Cool, Runs Quiet
Sonos Amp Multi: The Multi-Zone Amplifier Built for Whole-Home Audio
The Sonos Amp Multi is an eight-channel streaming amplifier built to power whole-home audio systems from a single rack unit, replacing the old approach of stacking multiple standard Sonos Amps to cover a house with more than one or two rooms.

The Problem With Stacking Standard Amps
The standard Sonos Amp is still a great way to power passive speakers next to a TV, and it's been a popular DIY and custom-install choice for years for exactly that. But it wasn't designed for whole-home use. Getting music into six, eight, or ten rooms meant running power to each individual Amp, wiring each one to Ethernet, labeling every unit, and managing a rack that filled up fast, since only two Amps fit side by side in 2U of rack space, covering four speakers total. In a larger home with several sets of in-ceiling or in-wall speakers, that rack could get crowded quickly.
Amp Multi solves that by fitting the same 2U of space that two standard Amps used to occupy, while doing far more.
Eight Outputs, Four Zones, Full Flexibility
Amp Multi has eight amplified outputs, each rated at 125 watts into 8 ohms, and those outputs split across up to four independent zones. Output routing is fully flexible, so any number of the eight outputs can be assigned to any zone. That could mean four zones with two outputs each, one zone using all eight, or any combination between those two extremes, whatever a given home's layout calls for.
It also handles four simultaneous streams at once, whether that's coming from the Sonos app, AirPlay 2, or Spotify Connect. That's what makes it possible for four different zones to each play something completely different at the same time, rather than everyone in the house being stuck on one shared queue.

Up to 24 Speakers From One Amplifier
Wire in Sonos Architectural by Sonance speakers and each output can drive up to three of them, which puts a fully loaded Amp Multi at 24 speakers total, all from one rack unit. On the back, the recessed speaker terminals take banana plugs rather than bare wire, and Amp Multi ships with its own custom plugs in the box, so installers aren't hunting for ones that fit the recess.
Cooler and More Efficient by Design
Amp Multi runs on Gallium Nitride amplification, or GaN, paired with post-filter feedback. GaN is a transistor material that switches faster and packs more power into less space than the silicon used in traditional Class D amps. Post-filter feedback backs that up by constantly comparing the output signal to the input in real time and making tiny corrections, which keeps performance precise and consistent even as the load changes across different speakers.
The practical result is an amp that runs cool enough to skip a fan entirely, which also means less dust works its way into the chassis over the years. The noise floor stays low enough that quiet passages don't pick up hiss, even with all eight channels working, and idle power draw sits under 5.5 watts, lower than a single standard Sonos Amp despite doing the job of four of them.
Two Ways to Tune a Room
Amp Multi tunes speakers two different ways, depending on what's connected and how much control a room needs.
For Sonos Architectural speakers specifically, Optimize Sonos Speakers automatically applies a tuning profile the moment it detects them connected, no manual adjustment required. For everything else, or for a room that needs more hands-on correction than the automatic profile covers, there's ProTune: a manual tuning suite with a 10-band parametric EQ, adjustable gain, delay up to 50 milliseconds, and a high-pass filter, all per output. Settings save and recall, so tuning a multi-unit project or restoring a system after a reset doesn't mean starting over.
ProTune is what corrects for a speaker sitting in an awkward ceiling cavity, and it's how volume gets matched across a zone so one room doesn't play louder than the next.
What Delay and the High-Pass Filter DoDelay and the high-pass filter solve two specific, physical problems, not just abstract settings on a menu.
Picture a great room grouped into the same zone as a covered patio. The speakers in each space usually aren't the same distance from where the two areas meet, so the closer set reaches a listener's ears a beat before the farther set does. That gap is what makes the overlap between the two spaces sound smeared instead of locked together. Delay adds those milliseconds back to the closer output so the two spaces line up right at the seam, though getting it right takes the right tools and a trained ear.
The high-pass filter handles something different. It rolls off the deep bass a speaker gets asked to reproduce, which matters because small in-ceiling and in-wall speakers can distort or get damaged pushing bass they weren't built for. Roll that off at the amp and hand it to a dedicated subwoofer instead, and the architectural speakers stay cleaner while the low end still gets covered properly.

Connectivity and What's on the Back
Beyond the speaker terminals, Amp Multi has a USB-C audio input, an analog line in, and a subwoofer output. For networking, it connects over wired Ethernet or WiFi 6, whichever fits the install.
Built for the Rack
Setup and mounting are designed around fast, clean installs. The optional 2U rack mount slides on and secures with four screws, then four more attach it into any standard 19-inch rack. Amp Multi sits right in the middle of that 2U space, so no vent grills are needed between units, which saves rack space and speeds up installation. Its flat-back design with recessed connectors keeps a dense rack tidy, and the unit looks just as clean sitting on a shelf or credenza where a rack isn't an option.
Each unit gives off an audible chirp when selected in the Sonos app, so an installer knows exactly which one they're configuring in a rack full of look-alikes, with standard PIN entry available as a fallback. Every output has its own status LED showing speaker presence, signal, and zone assignment at a glance, and an ambient light sensor dims those LEDs automatically so they're not glaring in a dark closet. Amp Multi also plays nicely with third-party control platforms like Control4 and Crestron, dropping into whatever system is already running.
One App, None of the Complexity
None of what's described above ever reaches the homeowner. The zone assignments, the EQ curves, the wire management, the rack itself, all of it disappears behind one interface. A Sonos dealer handles the technical details, and the end result is just the Sonos app: open it, see the rooms, pick what plays where. The kitchen gets a playlist, the patio gets a podcast, the office stays quiet, and any of those rooms can be grouped together with a tap for a party.
Is Amp Multi Right for Your Home?
For one or two rooms, a standard Amp or two is still the simpler, more direct path. Amp Multi earns its place once a system grows past that, into three, four, or more zones, where a single tuned rack unit is cleaner to install and easier to expand than a closet full of separate amps stacked on top of each other.
Because Amp Multi is sold exclusively through Sonos installation partners, there's no listed price to reference here. Every system is different, and cost depends entirely on the number of zones, speakers, and the complexity of a given install.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Sonos Amp Multi?
It's an eight-channel streaming amplifier from Sonos, built for whole-home audio systems with three or more zones. It replaces the need to stack multiple standard Sonos Amps in a rack.
How many speakers can the Sonos Amp Multi power?
Up to 24 Sonos Architectural by Sonance speakers, at up to three speakers per output across all eight outputs.
Can the Sonos Amp Multi play different music in different rooms at the same time?
Yes. It supports up to four simultaneous streams, so up to four independent zones can each play something different at once.
Do I need Sonos Architectural speakers to use the Amp Multi?
No. Any passive speaker can be wired in and tuned using ProTune. Sonos Architectural speakers specifically get an added benefit: an automatic tuning profile through Optimize Sonos Speakers.
Can I buy the Sonos Amp Multi directly from Sonos?
No. It's sold exclusively through Sonos installation partners, since it's designed to be specified, wired, and tuned as part of a professionally installed system.
What's the difference between the Sonos Amp and the Sonos Amp Multi?
The standard Sonos Amp is a two-channel amplifier built for a single room, often paired with a TV. The Amp Multi is an eight-channel amplifier built for whole-home systems with multiple zones, and it does not include the TV-focused HDMI input found on the standard Amp.
