Awesome Speakers

My speakers in my Audio System were The Paradigm Reference 20 v 4. But when I purchased The VPi Super Prime Scout, I felt the need to upgrade to The Revel M16. These speakers are awesome, the separation of instruments, and the huge sound stage is to die for! The Revel M16s teamed with my pair of SVS SB3000 gives me a sound that truly can't be matched for under $10,000. Totally Awesome!!

Incredible!

We bought the Rega Planar 3 about a month ago and were using it with what I thought were pretty great vintage Kenwood speakers from the 70s. The new turntable revealed incredible sounds that we had been missing all along. So we got to thinking. . . maybe we need some new speakers, too.

After some research and discussion with Audio Advice staff, we settled on two Revel M16 speakers with B&W stands. We set them up right away when they arrived. They look beautiful and they sound absolutely incredible. I didn't know what I'd been missing! The music is clear, full, beautiful, and all around me.

Using these speakers, familiar songs stir me in new ways. I somehow feel much more immediately connected to the music. It is fascinating! Loud treble is, surprisingly, not at all painful to my apparently tender ears, and now that we've figured out the primary reflection points in our room, the bass is really clean and tight. The music sounds warm and comfortable while remaining clear and lively. These speakers are never punishing or grating to the listener. Even music that I previously thought was a little sharp, painful, and annoying (e.g. The Rough Guide to Psychedelic Cambodia) is now actually a pleasure to listen to. It's even possible to have a conversation while listening to those songs, even at high volumes, without feeling agitated and distracted.

It is an absolute joy to listen to all varieties music all day long with these speakers. I love them and can't believe I lived so long without them. At $450 a piece, these speakers are a steal. I expect them to last for years to come, but already I think we've gotten at least $900 worth of enjoyment out of them, if such a feeling can be quantified.
