Overview

The McIntosh MC152 stereo amplifier delivers 150 Watts of power into two channels at 2, 4 or 8 Ohms. Both balanced and unbalanced inputs are included for connecting your preamplifier. McIntosh's smallest current model solid state stereo amplifier in terms of power output, the MC152 is perfect for modest sized systems where higher power output levels are not needed or in-home theaters to power surround channels.

Featuring a space-saving design with a slim 6” tall chassis, it can fit where larger models can’t. While it may be physically smaller than our other amplifiers, it's still full of all the technology McIntosh is known for and will perform to the same high standards as any of our amps. The McIntosh output Autoformer ensures every speaker receives full power regardless of its impedance while our unique Power Guard circuitry prevents clipping that could damage your speakers. Our speaker binding posts provide a secure connection to your speaker cables.

The MC152 is completed by the classic McIntosh black glass front panel, silver end caps and a pair of large, easy to read blue watt meters that are globally recognized as a symbol of quality audio. Bring the MC152 home today and introduce your friends and family to the legendary performance only McIntosh can deliver.

An amazing stereo amp that sounds fantastic and is worth the price.

First off, this thing can go loud. Don't be put off by the claimed 150 watts per channel. Hi-Fi World reviewed it and tested it and it was closer to 200 watts.

The sound: Let it be known, today's McIntosh amps are not warm, or dull sounding. They have a very clear but gentle smooth sound that is really wonderful. So much music sounds great through it. For my taste of classic rock, and jazz, this amp is my favorite in its price range. The Class D amps out there have a neutral sound and good bass but they lack meat on the bone. Class A..AB amps have the weight, but they also have the fullness that Class D amps still lack.

Lastly, McIntosh amps are built in upstate New York. They make their own hand wound transformers, metal cases and even the glass. They are providing jobs to Americans, enough of a pay that they are staying at the facility. When you buy amps made overseas, you don't know the quality control, and working environment of the employees. With McIntosh, they offer tours at their plant which you can see on line. The quality of their components are high end, and great thought has gone into all their audio gear. It costs a little more, but you know what, I am proud to own this American piece of quality, with the best looking blue meters in the front.

It's a McIntosh

Don't let the "entry level" tag fool you into thinking this is some bargain basement wanna be. It's 100% true McIntosh and exhibits every bit of the quality sound that puts "Legendary" in the name. The sound is crisp and clean and yet carries that famous warmth that everyone raves about. I have mine paired with McIntosh's equally entry level and equally competent C49 preamp. It is a combination that has allowed me to end my quest for audio nirvana and also join the ranks of McIntosh owners, something that I never would have believed I could afford. Until now.
