Is It Easy To Return An Item?
Yes, simply give us a call at 888.899.8776 or you can email our support team at support@audioadvice.com. Many times our team of experts can help figure out why the product might not be working like you expected and get things fixed over the phone, so don’t be surprised if we ask a few questions, we love troubleshooting!
If our tech help can not make you happy, we will email over a return shipping label with a Return Number.
Hopefully, you saved all of the original item’s box and packaging inserts. You will want to pack back up your return or exchange in the same way it came out of the original box. Once you have everything packaged correctly, tape the box on the top and bottom to assure it stays together. If Audio Advice shipped the item to you inside a second box, it's a good idea to use that same extra box to help prevent damage on its way back to us. To avoid it accidentally coming back to you, use a magic marker to cross out the old shipping label or just tear it off.
The return shipping label we send you will have our address on it, just make sure you take the box to the right shipper (UPS, FEDEX, or USPS) as per the label.
If you are close to one of our stores, please let us know if it is more convenient for you to return it to us directly. You will still need to get a return number by contacting us and shipping and/or restocking charges may apply.
When Will I See My Refund?
It usually takes around 7-14 days for the refund to show up on the payment method you used. We do inspect all returns for damage and accuracy of the item inside the box before issuing a refund. Some items may be subject to shipping and restocking fees.
Can I Exchange My Purchase For Something Different?
Sometimes those big speakers just don’t fit in the room or you might have bought a small subwoofer and later found out you’d love a bigger one. If you would like to make an exchange within 30 days of receiving your item, just give us a call at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com and we will help work out the details. Additional shipping charges and return costs may apply.
How Do I Cancel An Order?
If the item has already shipped out or is a special order item, it is not possible to cancel the order. Please contact us at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com to start the return process.
What If I Find Shipping Damage?
We need to know right away about any shipping damage. Please contact us at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com within 48 hours of your delivery so we can get the ball rolling on making things right. It’s very helpful to take some pictures and email them to us if possible.
Can I Refuse A Shipment?
You can, but unless the item is damaged, shipping and restocking fees will be deducted from your refund. If your item arrives damaged and you are lucky enough to be there, snap some quick pics and refuse the order. Then contact us so we can get a replacement on the way.
What Happens If My Order Is Defective?
This is actually pretty rare, most consumer electronics work fine out of the box 99.9% of the time. We’d like for you to contact us first by calling 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com so we can help get to the bottom of things. If your item is indeed defective during the first 30 days, we can usually exchange it for a new, replacement unit.
What About Service After 30 Days?
Audio Advice has a great relationship with all of our brands and can help you with warranty service by the brand after our 30-day guarantee period. Even after the warranty expires, we can arrange for service by the brand on products purchased from Audio Advice. Just call 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com.
How Do You Determine A Restocking Fee?
You may not believe it, but sometimes we receive items back that were put in the box with zero packaging and are completely destroyed or are missing many of the pieces that came with the item. We also track serial numbers and will get back different serial numbers. We’ve even seen different items than what we shipped out be returned. However, it’s very important to package your return properly so that nothing goes missing or gets damaged in shipping, which will result in a restocking fee or even no refund at all. If a product is opened and the market value of the product is reduced, then a restocking fee may be applied to the cost of restocking and the reduced market value of the product. The bottom line is if you treat us fairly, we will do the same.
Audio Advice strives to provide industry-leading support and service while also maintaining the lowest prices available on products for our customers. We work hard with our vendors to bring our customers the best products at each price point. As a part of that process, we work with our vendors to provide the lowest pricing in our stores and on our website.
Our prices should always be the same as any other authorized dealer, including big-box retailers and major online retailers.
If you believe that you have found a lower advertised price from a legitimate authorized seller, call us and let us know so we can make sure we can correct any inadvertent error on our side. As a matter of policy, we update our prices automatically if a vendor changes its authorized pricing policies, so we generally have the best prices all the time. Increasingly, there are knock-off copies of products online, usually sold by non-authorized dealers.
Please be sure that the item meets the following conditions:
- The item is brand new, in stock, and available for purchase
- The item has the identical model number, color, etc as the item on our site.
- The seller is an authorized dealer
As always, our goal is to provide a terrific customer experience, including industry low prices. We appreciate your support.
Overview
When Focal introduced the Diva Utopia at around $40,000 a pair, it showed what was possible when high-end audio engineering met the convenience of an all-in-one design. It wasn’t just another wireless active speaker. It was a genuine alternative to a separate component system, with Naim electronics, Focal’s best drivers, and engineering that considered how people actually live with their systems, making setup and daily use simple. We have a full, in-depth video on the Diva Utopia that covers every detail of its design, features, and performance for those who want to learn more.
In this article, we’re going to take a look at the new Diva Mezza Utopia, which takes that same vision and expands it in scale, capability, and room-filling authority. It is larger, more powerful, and built for listeners who want the same refinement as the Diva Utopia but in a form that can energize very large rooms with deeper bass and more headroom. The Mezza made its first public debut at Audio Advice Live 2025, where it drew crowds and left everyone impressed by both its capabilities and the incredible sound it delivered. Coming in at around $70,000 a pair, these are some of the most expensive active wireless speakers we have ever heard of. When you dig a little deeper, you will see why we think they combine the precision and quality of a true flagship hi-fi system with the simplicity of an all-in-one product, making them unlike anything else on the market today.

Design & Build Quality
When it comes to the design, build quality, and aesthetics of a speaker, Focal never lets us down. At a quick glance, the Mezza looks nearly identical to its little sibling, the Diva Utopia. However, the proportions are larger than the Diva Utopia in every dimension, increasing internal volume for the bigger low-frequency drivers. It still keeps the same flowing curves and modern silhouette, with a cabinet made from high-density molded polymer. Inside, heavy bracing and optimized geometry is used to keep vibrations to a minimum, allowing the drivers to work without interference. The base is crafted from injected aluminum and also integrates the downward facing port used for the low end.
Weighing in at nearly 200 pounds per speaker, everything on these feels substantial and built extremely well. And whether you’re setting these up yourself or having our team here at Audio Advice do it for you, we love that Focal has shipped each speaker with preinstalled rolling castors on the base, so once you have them unboxed, you can easily move them in your room. As you likely know, speaker placement, especially when it comes to speakers of this quality, is extremely important. We have in-depth articles and videos that go over how to place your speakers in your room and it can involve a lot of trial and error and moving your speakers around. Having to move speakers on spikes and rock them back and forth and measure them from the wall can be a real headache sometimes. These castors make it so simple to move speakers of this weight. And once you have them in the spot you like, you can mark it with some tape and swap the casters for the included spikes to anchor them in place.
Of course, we need to also discuss the exterior of these speakers, as they certainly aren’t what you see every day. The side panels are covered in an OEKO-TEX certified felt in a light ivory finish. For some, this might be an acquired taste, and it can certainly be difficult to translate how they look through a video or pictures. But we will say that these certainly push the design to make it stand out among traditional-looking speakers, and our team absolutely loves the ivory finish on them that adds just a subtle warmth and glow to the speaker's presence in a room. Now, these panels are removable if you decide you want to change to an alternative lacquer finish of Brilliant Black, Off-White, or Dune, and they can be paired with the felt side panels, so you’re not stuck with one color or even felt material, and can find one that matches your room the best. Heck, you could change the panels every day depending on the weather or even your mood if you so feel like it!

There are also a few other details here that stood out to us that really put this design over the top. Focal included a brushed aluminum ring surrounding the tweeter, which they refer to as the “signature watch” in their entire Utopia line, signaling its high end status. The tweeter grille is black, but when you look closer, the edges of the grille are actually red, giving it a really cool look as you get closer to the speaker. And at the bottom, there is a glowing Focal logo that is adjustable via the app. Overall, these speakers have a very unique and modern look with an extremely high build quality.
Drivers & Acoustic Design
Of course, design is not the only thing special about the Mezza speakers. Their driver array follows the same proven layout as the Diva Utopia, but with a significantly more capable bass section. At the top is a 27 millimeter pure beryllium M-profile inverted dome tweeter in an infinite acoustic loading chamber. This proven design from Focal delivers outstanding high-frequency detail while controlling the pressure behind the dome for cleaner and more extended treble. The unique M-profile shape lowers directivity, which allows for a wider and more flexible listening position, while also increasing dome rigidity to further reduce distortion. A larger 25 millimeter voice coil ensures excellent power handling, letting the tweeter maintain its composure even at high output levels.
The midrange is a six and a half inch W-sandwich cone with a Tuned Mass Damper surround and a Neutral Inductance Circuit motor, a combination that gives the midband a truly natural, uncolored character with excellent detail retrieval. The W-sandwich cone is one of Focal’s signature innovations, made from two layers of finely woven glass fiber bonded to a structural foam core. This construction allows complete control over three critical parameters for a loudspeaker diaphragm: lightness, rigidity, and damping. By varying the thickness of the foam and the number of glass layers, Focal can tailor the cone’s behavior to the exact frequency range it needs to reproduce.

The Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) surround adds another layer of refinement. This patented design uses small, precisely positioned toroidal weights to stabilize the surround, eliminating unwanted vibrations and irregularities between 1 kHz and 2 kHz. By controlling this behavior, TMD ensures greater sonic neutrality, allowing vocals and acoustic instruments to sound exceptionally clean and lifelike. The result is total sonic transparency, extremely low distortion, and midrange performance that integrates seamlessly with both the tweeter and the bass drivers.

While this all may seem super technical, you can rest assured knowing that Focal has pushed the boundaries of what these drivers are capable of. If you’ve never heard of their beryllium tweeters or W-sandwich cone midrange drivers in their other models, they are some of the most beloved on the market today.
Now, the really big change in the Mezza is the bass. Instead of four 6.5-inch woofers in the Diva Utopia, the Diva Mezza Utopia steps up to four 8-inch W-sandwich cone woofers, two on each side of the cabinet in a push-push configuration. This arrangement cancels out opposing forces, keeping the cabinet stable even during powerful, bass-heavy songs or movies. The larger cone area and increased motor strength allow the Mezza to move even more air with less effort, delivering bass that can extend to 22 Hz! This entire bass system vents through the base, which also helps make it easier to place these in your room with more flexibility compared to speakers that are vented in the rear.
Electronics & Amplification
Okay, so here’s the really cool part about these speakers. They’re fully active! Yes, you don’t need an amplifier for either of the Diva Utopia or Mezza models. That pretty much goes against traditional thinking, where if you want to get the best of the best, you should get separate components to build the best system you can. However, Focal tips this idea on its head with these speakers and utilizes its sister brand Naim, which creates some of the best amplification products in the world, to fit amplifiers that were designed specifically for these speakers and put them right inside.
This Naim-designed electronics package is a complete signal chain, including the streamer, preamp, DAC, DSP, and four Class AB amplifier channels per tower, all engineered to work perfectly together inside the Mezza. There are no separate boxes or cables that need to be set up besides plugging in each speaker to an outlet, and you’re ready to go. If you want to step up the resolution, you can use their included cable to connect the two speakers and go from 24bit/96kHz to 24bit/192kHz, which we recommend doing if your room allows.
Inside the Mezza, each driver gets its own dedicated Naim Class AB amplifier channel. The four 8-inch woofers share 280 watts, the midrange gets 130 watts, and the tweeter receives 90 watts, for a total of 500 watts per speaker of power! This is up from 400 watts from its younger sibling. Both also include a dual power supply to ensure dynamic stability and consistent control, even during demanding peaks. The crossover is also handled digitally, using Naim’s high-quality DSP to manage timing, phase, and frequency division with great precision.
Connectivity & Streaming
Let’s next discuss how to get sound to play on these speakers. One speaker will have just a port for power, while the other houses all the inputs and outputs. You can change whether you want this to be the left or right speaker in the app. There is every connection option you would expect. HDMI eARC allows direct integration with a TV to bring your movies to another level. There are optical and analog RCA inputs, a USB-A port for local files, Ethernet for wired networking, and Wi-Fi 6 for high-speed wireless streaming. Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive is on board for quick pairing from mobile devices, too.
To us, the best part is its wireless capability. As soon as you unbox these and get them set up, you can immediately start playing hi-res music right from your phone. The Mezza supports a long list of streaming options, including AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Qobuz Connect, UPnP for local network playback, Internet Radio, Google Home, HomeKit, and QQ Music. This wide compatibility means you can use virtually any service or device without workarounds.

Control is handled through the Focal and Naim app, available on both the App Store and Google Play. From here, you can access your streaming services, podcasts, and local content, as well as adjust system settings and run room optimization. The Mezza also integrates seamlessly into the Focal and Naim multiroom ecosystem, making it easy to pair with other compatible products throughout the home.
The app is also just super easy to use. You might think that for a pair of $70,000 speakers that you’d be setting them up for days and need an industry professional to help you. Focal couldn’t have made that further from the truth. Setup is quick and logical. Each speaker is plugged into power, linked wirelessly or via the Hi-Res cable, connected to the network, and calibrated with ADAPT. From there, you are ready to start listening. While these speakers have some of the most advanced technology behind them, they’ve made it so that literally anyone can operate them and get incredible performance.
Room Optimization & Setup
Next, let’s discuss the last piece of the puzzle when it comes to these Mezza speakers: room correction. At Audio Advice, we are huge fans of room correction, as it can greatly improve the sound you get from your gear. However, it’s not a magical fix, and typically, having the right speaker placement and acoustically treating your room are just as important. But with good room correction technology, you can take a good-sounding room to a great-sounding room.
Focal’s ADAPT system (Adaptive Acoustic Personal Tuning) is their version of room correction, and it’s built right into the app. This patented technology uses a series of sound tests to measure the speakers in your space, taking into account placement, boundaries, and the unique acoustic signature of the room. The system then applies precise adjustments to deliver a balanced, natural response while preserving the speaker’s inherent character. You can also make small personal preference tweaks to suit your taste. We found it to work incredibly well in every room we tested it in, and if you have these speakers, we highly recommend using this feature to get the most out of them.

Performance
Finally, how do they sound? In a word: breathtaking. And if you don’t believe us, stop by our Raleigh showroom and listen to them for yourself. We have one of the only pairs in the US right now, as of August 2025, and we promise you will be blown away. We even have the Diva Utopias right next to them, so you can compare them side by side.
From the first track, the Mezza makes its scale and authority clear. Bass reaches well into the lowest octave, giving music and film soundtracks a foundation that feels physical without becoming overbearing. The midrange retains the same openness and tonal accuracy as the Diva Utopia, letting vocals and acoustic instruments sound lifelike and three-dimensional. High frequencies from the beryllium tweeter are extended and airy yet smooth, and the M-profile dome design maintains imaging precision even when you are not seated directly in the sweet spot. The soundstage is broad and layered, with seamless integration between drivers. At low listening levels, the Mezza maintains detail and balance, while at high output, it remains composed and free from strain. In a large room, it can fill the space effortlessly, making it a strong choice for anyone with a listening area up to 1,000 square feet!
Diva Mezza Utopia vs Diva Utopia
Both models share the same design philosophy, but they are aimed at different needs. The Diva Utopia is smaller, lighter, and uses four 6.5 inch woofers with a total of 400 watts per speaker. It is ideal for medium to large rooms and offers a balanced sound that works well at a wide range of listening levels.

The Mezza, with its larger 8-inch woofers, more powerful amplification, and dual-stage power supply, is designed for larger rooms or for listeners who want deeper bass extension and more headroom. It has the same refinement and tonal accuracy but adds a greater sense of scale and effortlessness, especially at higher volumes.
Choosing between them comes down to the size of your room and how you listen. For medium spaces and a mix of focused and casual listening, the Diva Utopia is an excellent fit. For expansive rooms or a desire for the most authority possible from an all-in-one system, the Mezza is the right choice.
Overall Thoughts
The Diva Mezza Utopia takes everything the Diva Utopia did well and builds on it for bigger spaces and more demanding listening. It combines the craftsmanship and acoustic innovation Focal is known for with Naim’s amplification and streaming expertise, all wrapped in a design that feels as special as it sounds. For the right room, it delivers a combination of depth, detail, and ease that is rare in any system, let alone one without racks of separate components. It truly offers listening without constraints and the ability to feel your music without limits.
