Congratulations on the purchase of your ELAC Varro subwoofer! In this complete Elac Varro setup tips & tricks guide we will help you get your subwoofer up & running fast!
We will assume you have unpacked your subwoofer and have it in the general location you want to place it.
The models have RCA inputs to receive a signal from the subwoofer out on your home theater receiver, integrated amp, or preamplifier. If your product sending the signal has the ability to add a crossover, it is best to use the crossover in your AVR or amp
Connect the subwoofer out from your AVR to the Right/LFE input on the sub. If your integrated amp has a subwoofer out that does not have a variable crossover (many are this way, check your manual) connect the same way.
If you are using a second set of preamp outputs, you will need to connect both the left and right inputs on the subwoofer.
These will connect the same way as the Premium models, but with one more option that is geared for use in a two-channel audio system where you are adding a subwoofer. If your two-channel preamp or amp does not have a dedicated subwoofer out with a built-in crossover, you can use speaker wire into the speaker wire terminals on the back of the sub. These can be connected to the same speaker wire terminals as your main speakers.
You’ll have all the same choices as the Reference with the addition of balanced audio connections

Simply put this on a compatible 2.0 or better USB stick, and insert it into the USB port on the rear of the sub with the sub powered OFF. Turn on the sub and in about 1 minute the update will be done.
While your Varro sub has a world-class room correction system, it is still always better to find the best location for your subwoofer first if you want the very best performance. However, if you want to place it where it will look best visually in your room, that is ok, as the EQ system does a great job, but for the best possible outcome, check out our article on how to set up your subwoofer and follow the steps.
Find the ELAC app for iOS or Android, download the app, and open it up. It should find your sub very quickly.
We cover how to do this in our subwoofer setup guide and it is fantastic to be able to experiment right from your chair with the app. We did find the controls to jump around if you just touch them, however, the trick is to hold your finger on the slider, then you will be able to move it slowly in the finest of increments.
