How to Set Up Your Revelation Luxury Home Theater Chair
If you just received your new Revelation Luxury Home Theater Chair or are still deciding if it’s the right fit for your space, this guide will walk you through the entire setup process from start to finish. We’ll cover everything from unboxing to power connection, assembly, and final positioning so you can start relaxing in your new chair as soon as possible.
If you haven’t seen our full review of the Revelation Luxury, check it out here. That article and video go in-depth on all the upgrades and features, including the motorized lumbar, heat and massage, and shorter wall clearance. But in this article, we’ll focus entirely on setup.
Before You Begin
Measure and Plan Your Space
Before you unbox anything, measure your doorways and layout to make sure the chair will fit through your space. The height of the base without the back installed is about 28 inches, so you’ll likely need to flip the base on its side to fit through most standard doors.
If your doorway is at least 30 inches wide, you’re in good shape. If you’re not ready to install the chair right away, plan ahead for storage. The two-arm boxes are approximately 40 by 30 by 35 inches, while single left-arm or right-arm boxes are about 33" by 30" by 35". You can safely stack the boxes two high, but since each one weighs over 150 pounds, grab a friend to help move them.
Floor Outlet Placement and Power Requirements
If you’re doing a new build or remodel, place your floor outlet about 16 inches off the back wall, so they will be covered by the back portion of the chair and remain unseen. You can use a flush outlet so it does not stick out into the chair or even better, plan to install recessed outlets into the floor. If your chair is not against a wall, you can plan to measure from the headrest to the wall and then add about 14 inches so the outlet will just be covered by the back of the chair again. We highly recommend consulting with our experts before placing your outlets to ensure they are in the correct location.
The Revelation Luxury has a shorter-clearance reclining design, so you only need about two and a half inches between the headrest and the wall for full recline. That’s one of the biggest advantages of the Luxury model compared to traditional theater seating.
Each chair draws about 2 amps, so plugging into an existing 15-amp circuit is perfectly fine. For larger multi-row setups, we recommend a dedicated 20-amp circuit.
Each chair also includes a 4 foot power cord, but for bigger rows or rooms where outlets are farther away, an extension cord may be needed. Just make sure cords and interconnect cables are routed safely so they don’t get pinched or stepped on when the chair reclines.
How to Unbox Your Chair Safely
Move the box close to where you plan to place the chair. If the box fits through your doorway, you can bring it in as-is. If not, unbox just outside and carry the base and back separately.
To unbox, flip the box upside down and open it from the bottom. Fold back the flaps and then gently roll the box back upright. Slide the box off the top, remove all packaging materials and protective foam, and you should now have two main pieces: the base and the back.
Connecting the Base and Back Sections
Before installing the back, take a look at the connectors coming from both sections. The Revelation Luxury has five different connection plugs between the back and the base. Each one is unique in shape or color, so you can’t mix them up.
You’ll find connectors for power, headrest, lumbar, heat, and massage. Make sure each one is firmly seated until it clicks into place.
You’ll also see a small connector for the blue accent light underneath the chair. If you prefer that light to stay off completely, just leave that plug disconnected. It will not affect any of the other chair functions.
Multi-Seat Row Connector Layout
If you’re setting up multiple chairs, the connector layout varies slightly between models:
- Two-arm chairs only have the female ends of the connectors.
- Single-arm chairs have male ends on the side without the arm and a female connector on the side with the arm.
This ensures everything lines up correctly when connecting multiple chairs together.
Once everything is connected, line up the backrest rails with the tracks on the base and slowly guide the back down until it locks in. Tug gently to make sure it’s secure, then attach the fabric flap on the lower back using the Velcro strip for a clean, finished look.
Powering On and Testing the Controls
Plug your chair into the outlet and test the controls. On the cupholder, you’ll find buttons for recline, headrest, lumbar, heat, and massage, along with a home button that returns the chair to the upright position. There’s also a USB-C port for charging your devices.
Start by testing the recline and headrest. You’ll notice how quiet the motors are and how the headrest moves diagonally up and forward for a comfortable viewing angle.
Next, test the motorized lumbar support, which you can raise or lower to fit the curve of your back perfectly.
Heat and Massage Functions
Press the heat button to turn on the heated seat. The warmth is focused in the seat and lower area rather than the backrest, so you’ll feel it primarily beneath you. The temperature will vary slightly depending on room conditions, but you can expect it to reach roughly 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit after a few minutes of warming up.
Then, try out the massage feature, which has three modes that cycle through different styles:
- A rolling motion version
- A kneading version
- A shiatsu version that targets the mid and lower back
These functions make it easy to tailor the experience to your personal comfort.
LED Lighting and Brightness Control
The Revelation Luxury includes upgraded LED lighting with smoother illumination under the footrest and around the cupholder.
You can control brightness directly from the cupholder by tapping the light icon to cycle through three dimming levels: bright, low, and ambient. One more tap turns the lights completely off. The lighting is designed to be subtle enough that it won’t interfere with your screen during a movie.
Building Multi-Seat Rows
When creating a multi-seat row, start by placing the center chair first and then work outward. Each chair includes a clip system at the base that connects neighboring chairs together, keeping your row perfectly aligned.
This system is especially helpful on hardwood floors or if you plan to move the seats occasionally.
For two-arm chairs, you may also find a small zip-tie loop underneath. This is there for cable management so you can secure power or signal cables neatly underneath, preventing them from dragging or getting pinched.
Final Placement and Riser Tips
Once everything is connected, make small adjustments to your layout before reclining fully.
If you’re around six feet tall or more, your feet may extend slightly past the footrest when reclined, which is normal. The continuous chaise design still provides full thigh and calf support for most users.
If your row is on a riser, plan for a minimum depth of six feet to recline fully. Seven feet gives you extra walking space in front when the chairs are reclined
