Trinnov AltitudeCI Explained: Scalable Audio over IP for Every Project
At Audio Advice, we are always paying attention to products that have the potential to shape the future of home theater and custom integration. Few companies have influenced the high-end audio space as much as Trinnov, and their new AltitudeCI processor is a perfect example of why. Compact, networked, and built for scalability, it delivers Trinnov’s world-class immersive audio performance across a wide range of projects, from luxury media rooms to DCI-grade private cinemas.
The AltitudeCI is Trinnov’s first fully networked Audio-over-IP processor designed specifically for the custom installation market. It arrives in a streamlined 2RU chassis and can be licensed anywhere from 8 to 32 channels, with a 64-channel configuration expected in 2026. Unlike traditional fixed-channel processors, this one is modular: integrators can expand in two-channel increments, scaling systems with precision instead of paying for capacity that will never be used. Updates are handled remotely through Trinnov’s extranet, which means the platform can grow and adapt long after the initial installation.
As Trinnov CEO Arnaud Laborie explained, “AltitudeCI makes Trinnov performance available to more projects than ever before. This is the one platform integrators can rely on for every immersive audio project, regardless of scale, infrastructure, or performance demands.”
The goal is simple: provide a single, flexible backbone that works in high-end theaters and large-scale cinemas alike.
AltitudeCI’s modular licensing model is a big step forward for installers. Rather than paying for unused capacity, integrators can activate only the channels required. Upgrades are handled remotely via Trinnov’s extranet, making it simple to scale a system as client needs evolve. Whether you start at 8 channels or move toward 32 and beyond, the same core platform stays in place.
This is the first processor in its class to feature native support for both Dante and Ravenna/AES67. Most processors in this category force you to pick one or rely on converters. Trinnov’s “best of both worlds” architecture allows direct connection with Dolby Atmos and DCI servers via AES67 while distributing audio over Dante without any extra hardware in between.
For integrators, that means fewer boxes in the rack, simpler system design, and more reliable performance overall.
AltitudeCI comes fully loaded with Trinnov’s proprietary acoustic technologies, which are part of what makes the brand legendary:
AltitudeCI has been designed with integrators in mind. The 2RU chassis includes eight analog outputs, ideal for active subwoofer configurations, WaveForming arrays, or traditional 7.1 layouts. HDMI support with four inputs and two outputs makes it compatible with video matrix systems, while three configurable Ethernet ports — two with SFP cages — support redundant or segmented networks for control, audio, and service.
On the software side, Trinnov has redesigned the Altitude interface with a guided calibration workflow. This makes setup more approachable for integrators while still giving experts the detailed control they expect.
To complete the AoIP ecosystem, Trinnov has introduced an optional Dante input board for the Amplitude16 multichannel amplifier. With this addition, the AltitudeCI and Amplitude16 can form an end-to-end Audio-over-IP signal chain in just five rack units.
The input board uses the same DAC architecture found in Trinnov’s higher-end gear, ensuring pristine signal integrity and exceptional dynamic range. Paired together, the AltitudeCI and Amplitude16 deliver audiophile-grade performance while maximizing rack efficiency.
While Trinnov will officially debut the AltitudeCI at CEDIA Expo 2025, you don’t need to wait to start planning your system. At Audio Advice, our team has decades of experience designing and integrating high-performance theaters, and we are here to help you decide if the AltitudeCI is the right fit for your project.
