Eversolo DMP-A10 Setup Guide and Tips
The Eversolo DMP-A10 is one of the most advanced streamers, DACs, and preamps on the market, but getting it dialed in makes all the difference. Whether this is your first high-end streamer or an upgrade from the A8 or A6, this guide will walk you through setup, calibration, and advanced features to make sure you’re getting the absolute best performance possible.
What You’ll Need
- Eversolo DMP-A10 unit
- Power cable, antennas, trigger cable, and remote
- Ethernet or strong Wi-Fi
- RCA or XLR cables for connection to your amp or powered speakers
- Subwoofer cables if using one or two subs
- HDMI cable if connecting to your TV
- Optional: measurement microphone for room correction
- Optional: NVMe SSDs for local storage
1. Physical Placement and Power
The A10’s side fins are designed for passive cooling, so leave space around it for airflow. Keep the front clear for easy touchscreen access. Connect power and press the power button to boot. Let it warm up a few minutes before serious listening—the internal OCXO clock performs best once temperature-stabilized.
2. Network Setup
For the most stable performance, use a wired Ethernet connection to your router or a quality switch.
If Wi-Fi is your only option, connect to a network during setup.
Advanced users can connect via the SFP fiber port using a compatible module, which isolates electrical noise between your switch and the A10 for cleaner playback.
3. Update Firmware First
Before customizing anything, go to Settings > About and install the latest firmware and app updates. This ensures all streaming services and system functions run smoothly.
4. Choose Your Output and Enable Protection
Go to Settings > Audio Output and activate your connection path (XLR or RCA).
Turn Volume Protection on and set a Volume Limit (for example, –20 dB) to protect your speakers during setup.
You can also set a Startup Volume so it never powers on at full output.
5. Enable EOS for Bit-Perfect Playback
In Settings > Audio, confirm EOS is turned on. EOS (Eversolo Original Sampling-rate Audio Engine) bypasses Android’s sample-rate conversion so your music plays at its native resolution—even in apps like Apple Music or Tidal.
6. Pair the App and Add Streaming Services
Download the Eversolo Control app and connect to the A10 while on the same network.
Sign in to your preferred streaming services directly from the A10 interface.
For unsupported apps, use the A10’s screen cast feature to mirror and control third-party apps directly from your phone to make it easier.
7. Personalize the Display
Adjust screen and knob brightness to your liking. We like it around halfway for comfortable viewing.
Select your preferred VU meter style, Play Detail theme, and home-screen shortcuts in the settings. There are a lot of options, so have some fun and test them all!
We also like to pin our most-used apps, like TIDAL, Qobuz, or local files, right to the home row for easy access.
8. Dual Subwoofer Setup
The A10’s dual sub outputs let you integrate subwoofers like a true high-end preamp.
- Connect your subs to Sub 1 and Sub 2.
- Choose your mode: Stereo mode if each sub sits near its left or right speaker. Mixer mode if subs are in corners or not symmetrically placed.
- Start with an 80 Hz crossover for towers, or 90–100 Hz for bookshelves.
- Keep polarity at 0 and match sub level to your mains by ear or with an SPL meter.
- After room correction, make fine adjustments until bass blends evenly.
Use our subwoofer placement and subwoofer calibration guide for best setup.
9. Run Room Correction
Eversolo’s built-in room correction can make a big difference in real-world rooms
- Use the included mic or a calibrated USB mic if available.
- Measure from your main listening position in a quiet room.
- Save your correction profile and compare On vs Off.
- If you change crossover or sub settings, re-run the calibration.
- For best accuracy, use an external mic rather than your phone’s built-in one.
10. Manual Tuning with PEQ and DSP
Once room correction is done, you can fine-tune further with the onboard DSP.
- Parametric EQ: cut peaks rather than boost dips. Start with gentle 2–4 dB cuts.
- High/Low Pass Filters: relieve smaller speakers of low bass energy below 40–60 Hz.
- Loudness and Compressor: use lightly for late-night listening or to smooth dynamics.
- FIR Filters: advanced users can import filters created in measurement software.
Save multiple presets so you can experiment and easily return to your baseline.
11. Using the A10 as a Preamplifier
The A10’s R2R volume control and balanced analog stage are strong enough to drive power amps directly.
- Start around –40 dB and bring volume up gradually.
- If using an integrated amp, you can choose fixed output and control volume on the amp, or variable output and use the A10 as your main volume control.
- Pick one method and stick with it to avoid doubling volume control.
12. Connecting an External DAC
If you have a DAC you want to keep in the chain:
- Use the isolated USB Audio out for the cleanest signal path.
- You can also use Coax or Optical.
- The A10 can act as a Digital-to-Digital Converter (DDC), applying EQ before sending digital output to your DAC. This lets you keep your tuning while using another converter.
13. HDMI ARC for TV Integration
- On your TV, set the audio output to PCM.
- On the A10, select HDMI ARC input.
- If voices are ahead or behind, use the delay adjustment.
- Disable TV sound enhancements like virtual surround or auto volume.
14. Local Storage and Library Organization
Install up to two M.2 NVMe SSDs underneath the unit for local file storage.
Add your NAS or shared drives under Files using SMB or NFS protocols.
If you use a USB CD drive, the CD app can play and rip discs directly to your library. Metadata and album art will automatically populate when available.
15. Roon and Other Control Options
The A10 supports Roon integration once certified. You can also stream through Tidal Connect, DLNA, AirPlay, or Eversolo’s native apps.
Use the Bluetooth and IR remote for quick access, or the mobile app for detailed control.
16. Quick Reliability Tips
- Always prefer Ethernet over Wi-Fi for high-bitrate audio.
- Disable unused outputs to simplify the interface.
- Keep Volume Protection enabled.
- Back up your PEQ and correction presets.
- Save a “clean baseline” profile to revert to if you experiment with EQ or DSP.
17. Troubleshooting Quick Fixes
No sound: Check your output path and confirm TV audio is set to PCM if using ARC.
Stuttering: Use Ethernet or reduce DSP load while testing.
Wrong sample rate: Make sure EOS is on and your app is set to Lossless or Hi-Res.
Bass too heavy or thin: Verify sub mode, re-run room correction, or tweak crossover slightly.
Clicks between tracks: Disable unused outputs and confirm your downstream gear supports the format.
Roon not showing A10: Update firmware, restart Roon Core, and ensure both are on the same network.
Quick Start Checklist
- Update firmware
- Connect via Ethernet
- Turn on EOS
- Enable your main Output
- Turn on Volume Protection
- Add streaming services
- Set subwoofer mode and crossover
- Run room correction
- Apply a few small EQ adjustments
- Enjoy, then refine over time
