Home Automation Systems

Crestron, Savant and Control4 Home Automation Systems in Raleigh, Cary and Charlotte, NC areas.

Audio Advice provides three home automation system choices: our Crestron based Signature Series system, the exciting new Savant Apple based control system, and the great wireless retro fit system from Control 4. Crestron is one of the oldest and most successful automation companies with systems in luxury homes, Fortune 500 boardrooms, and five-star hotels around the world. Savant is a relative new comer but with their Apple infrastructure has a lot of advantages.  Control4 makes great products that are affordable and easy to install in existing homes.

Audio Advice Crestron Signature

With iPad integration, our Signature program is second to none.  By using iPads instead of expensive wifi touchscreens, the cost of the system has come down, and we’ve been able to include many features found only on the iPad.  For a full control over a large luxury home, Signature is our best choice.

We’ve literally spent thousands of hours refining our Signature system which is now in its third version.  The other great thing about our Signature system is the ability for us to roll out updates for all of our Signature clients.  Scott Newnam, our CEO and technology wizard uses his own home as a beta site for new ideas and features, so you can trust Scott has fully tested anything before we unveil it.   Please read our introduction section on home control to learn about what we mean by built in intelligence that is an integral part of our Signature system.

Anyone in the industry who has seen it in operation agrees, its flat out the best they have ever seen, taking home automation to a new level of ease of control.

Universal Control

The Signature Series lets you indulge in luxury with one touch. Using one button, your lights dim, shades close, the flat-screen TV turns on and you relax as your favorite movie begins. Listen to jazz CDs while you read in the den, the kids play video games in the media room, and your spouse listens to the radio on the terrace. Control your music from any room in the home – there’s no need to walk to the stereo to choose a component, select CDs, change tracks or adjust volume. You can control security cameras and watch what’s going on around the house on your Signature Series iPad. Monitor your front door, watch the kids by the swimming pool, or check on the baby napping in the nursery.

These enhancements are a few of many the Signature Series experience brings to your home and life. Ask your consultant how Audio Advice engineering makes your Signature Series system unique.

Savant uses a modified Apple Mac Mini as their core systems control processor.  They draw on the Apple iPad and iPhone products as the control interface.  Since the entire system runs in the Apple ecosystem, response time is incredibly fast.  For home automation in homes under 7000 sq feet, Savant will typically be more cost effective than our Signature System.  You can get into a great music, video, lighting, climate and camera control system for far less than you would spend just a couple of years ago.  One big advantage Savant has for music lovers is its ability to support 4 iTunes music streams at one time.  Their interface to the world of streaming music is even better to us than the one provided by Sonos, which is saying a whole lot.. Savant also provides some pretty slick wall mount options for the iTouch for situations where you want some kind of neat wall control.  Their user interface for scheduling your HVAC system is just super slick, plus they have some very cool ways to set up your own personal favorites for navigating all the cable channels out there.  Get our Founders take on living with Savant in a recent blog post.

Here’s a recent Forbes magazine video looking at Savant’s iPad powered home of the future.

Roaming iPads

When you have a large home, jumping from one wireless access point to another, when using automation software can be problematic.  An Audio Advice mark of distinction for both our Signature and Savant systems is our exclusive roaming iPad technology. This lets you walk all over your home with one iPad or have up to six throughout your home that all can work each and every system so you do not have to keep track of which one works which room. From your den, you can control the surround sound system there, go down to your basement and control the media center at the basement bar. Walk to the pool and control the music outdoors or in the whole home. Access a camera page on your touch panel to see who is at the front door! No separate iPad is needed for each area. Each iPad can do anything and everything. Nothing we have seen beats the ease of use of our roaming iPad technology.

Home away from home

Your Signature series system and most Savant systems will include a Cisco enterprise grade network, which not only gives you speed and security, but the ability to have a secure, remote access to your system.  Imagine being on vacation, pulling out your iPad and viewing the cameras around your home!  You can actually do anything you can inside your home!  For even more details on our Signature System check out our blog:  Audio Advice Signature Series
