Lutron motorized shades protect living room fabrics and keepsakes from the sun.
Let’s face it, we all love motion technology. Watching a TV pop out of a cabinet or seeing the trunk of a car slowly close is fascinating! One of the more spellbinding things to see is a large bank of windows with motorized shades lowering. When those shades move totally in sync and are completely silent, it’s so cool!
Lutron has been in the motorized shade business for many years and makes the quietest shades on the planet. Most shade motors sound like they might grind to a halt. The Lutron motors are almost totally quiet. Because motors require power, our installations of these have usually been in new construction projects where we could run wiring required to supply the power.
Another interesting thing about Lutron shade options is the wide selection of fabrics. Not only do the majority block out most damaging UV rays, they have a variety of choices that allow UV light while still permitting a great view. Every time Audio Advice does a shading system for a newly constructed home, we marvel about how great it turns out but also wish there was a way to offer these shades to more people: they are just so cool! However, getting wiring to power every window in an existing home is a daunting project.
Last year Lutron finally granted our wishes with battery powered shades. Lutron developed a technology to allow batteries to last a very long time. So long in fact, the D cells used in the new Triathlon shades average 2 full open/close cycles each day for three years! Better yet, these cost less on average than wired shades. While there are some limitations on size, we found that most windows in a typical home can be upfitted with one of these battery powered shades. There are many fabric choices: from those that block UV and still give you a view to full blackout shades.
We have found all kinds of uses for these shades: from turning a bright bonus room into a fully darkened movie theater in the middle of the day with blackout shades to blocking out the afternoon sun in living and family rooms to protect furniture and art.
Lutron shading options are set up for demo in both our Raleigh and Pineville locations so you can see for yourself how cool these are. Come and take a look. One of our experts can arrange a visit to measure your windows and put you on the road to the wonderful world of motorized shades!
