An Audio Advice Invitation
from Leon Shaw
Why you will want to attend
our 35th Anniversary Music Matters
Raleigh: Wednesday, Nov. 6th – Charlotte: Thursday, Nov. 7th
(6 pm to 9 pm each evening)
I can’t believe it’s been 35 years since I first opened Audio Advice! Wow, have things changed! This November you’ll have a great chance to experience many current and upcoming changes at Music Matters. These evenings will have premieres of some great new speakers, a stunning 40th anniversary speaker system demo, the introduction of a whole new way to experience music, and lots more from some of our favorite vendors. Come out and enjoy the food and fun, and celebrate our anniversary with us. I plan to be at both events to say hello to old friends and meet some new hi-fi enthusiasts!
Who is coming and what to look for
Aerial – The unveiling of the new Aerial 6T by Michael Kelly, founder of Aerial Acoustics. The preliminary inside reports tell me this will be one great speaker!
Ayre – Alex Brinkman will be doing demos of their new integrated amp. In my listening tests, this is just astounding for the money. I like the sound so much, I’ve got the power amp version in my personal system.
B&W and Classé – This will be one of the highlights of the show. Audio Advice is one of a lucky handful of dealers in the country on the 40th anniversary tour of the Nautilus speaker system (pictured above). We’ll have stacks of Classé amps driving these revolutionary speakers.
GoldenEar – Sandy Gross, founder of GoldenEar, will show off his new Triton 7 tower speaker. Sandy, a legend in the audio industry, puts on some of the best demonstrations in the business. This one needs to be on your “must see” list.
MartinLogan (Charlotte only) – In our Pineville showroom, MartinLogan will be demoing the Montis, and their new Balanced Force subwoofers, as well as their Motion 40 tower speakers.
Sony – We will début the new DSD player from Sony. As I write this it has not shipped, but it could revolutionize computer audio. Sony is going back to the original master tapes of most of the music in their vast music libraries and redoing them in DSD (which has a sampling rate 64 times higher than CD). This could be awesome: I can’t wait to play with it!
Transparent – Brad O’Toole will show you how USB cables can make a huge difference in computer audio. You’ll probably be as amazed as I was when I first tried these.
Wadia – Trent Suggs will be showing off a new integrated DAC from Wadia: the Intuition. I heard a brief demo and I must say, this very sleek looking piece has a whole lot of promise!
Computer Audiophile: Chris Connaker – Chris is the definitive expert on computer audio and is founder of the top computer audio website. His demonstrations are always a lot of fun and very informative.
