The Triton series is made up of speakers with passive or active subs. The Triton One, Two, and Three are all active while models Five and Seven are passively driven. The Five uses the famous GoldenEar ribbon tweeter found in all Triton models. It has a neat tilted back look which helps time align the two 6” drivers on the front baffle. There are no parallel surfaces anywhere on the cabinet, which is a great way to reduce cabinet resonance. Two passive drivers on each side toward the bottom of the cabinet provide deep bass. While you will appreciate the subtleties of some of the best electronics in the world on the Triton Five, it’s so efficient (90 db) you can easily drive it with a modest receiver. This lets you assemble a full GoldenEar home theater system for less than you might think!
The sound of the Triton Fives will just draw you in. They’re very easy to listen to, and provide a large soundstage with great separation of individual instruments. Some reviewers have said these speakers keep up with or even outperform speakers costing over twice as much per pair!
We’ve got the Triton Fives set up in both our Raleigh and Charlotte showrooms along with most of Sandy Gross’s other great GoldenEar products. We invite you to come in and hear what one of our favorite speaker designers has given us to enjoy!
