4K (or UltraHD) is definitely here to stay, and that is great news! At Audio Advice, we love the picture 4K offers and are happy to see this new format is gaining ground.

Audio Advice was one of the first 12 dealers in the entire country to bring you a glimpse of 4K with the introduction of Sony’s 84″ television less than a year ago.  (It seems like ages ago, but its actually been less than a year!)

Sony announced a broad assortment of new 4K TV models for 2014 at CES. None of these will be out until mid April at the earliest, but we thought you would like for us to fill you in on what is coming.  It’s amazing how technology marches on!

There will be a new top of the line XBR-X950B series consisting of 85” and 65” models. They have a cool new design and improved technology over the existing series. The 85” will be $25,000 while the 65” will be $8000. These promise to be brighter with much more dynamic contrast through the use of a new back lighting algorithm.

All the new models have a new wedge shaped design allowing more space for TV speakers. While this is a good idea for bedroom TV’s, we believe anyone purchasing a 4K TV probably has (or wants) a great sound system. Nonetheless, the look is pretty slick.

The XBR-X900B series has 3 models. A new 79” size at $8000, 65” at $5500, and a 55” at $4000. This series retains the speakers on the sides like the current 900 series, but does step up the game with the better back lighting.

The 850 series has no visible speakers (just like this years models) and has 4 sizes. The 70” is $6000, the 65” will be $4500, and the 55” is $3000. A new smaller 49″ version breaks a new price barrier for Sony 4K at $2200.

As we get more data from Sony on these new models, we will pass it along to you.  We suspect the 79″ and 70″ models are going to be really big sellers and can’t wait to get them into our stores!
