In part 10, we’ll take a look at an over the top subwoofer from James and do an in-depth look at the IC Realtime booth.

IC Realtime is a security company down in Florida that Audio Advice has been a big fan of for a while.  They make security cameras and DVR’s.  Unlike a lot of companies making cameras that are just toys, these guys make the real deal.  At this year’s show they had all of their cameras on display to show us just how good they were from a resolution standpoint.  They had mounted them all on a pretty tall pole in the middle of their booth and were able to take the pan/tilt/zoom models and literally zoom in on booths all the way across the huge hall.  The resolution was just amazing.  Security cameras have become very popular over the last few years bringing many players into the market. There is no standards board that actually tests security cameras to make sure the specs they claim are actually true which has led to lots of camera companies literally making up specs.  Lots of cameras are sold as toys so you can show your friends you can have a blurred view of your home on your phone, but if you needed to identify an actual criminal entering your property, there would not be enough resolution to do so.  The guys at IC had set up a comparison where they had a light box set up that is used for color and gray scale accuracy testing.  They simply placed their regular dome camera in front of it along with those of some of their competitors.  In all cases, if you looked at the claimed specs on the competitors camera, they were better on paper.  Well, when you looked at what the camera actually captured, the differences were staggering!  The feed from the IC Realtime looked pretty much like the box in front of us, but the competitors looked just like a blurred blob.  We feel if you are going to have cameras around your property, it is important they have the resolution to aid in identifying an intruder.  IC Realtime also was showing off their line of DVR’s that have a very cool iPad app for viewing anywhere in the world.  But the real kicker was this funky looking device they were showing off.

The new IC Realtime Intruder Detection Device

The new IC Realtime Intruder Detection Device

IC is really serious about offering the best security systems and now offers a system that was just de-classified by the military.  It consists of a small radar unit, an infrared detection system, and super high resolution camera system with laser sights.  The infrared and camera are both on turrets that can spin around and move up and down almost instantly.  It works like this- you put all of this up on a 30-50’ pole depending on the size of your property.  It will cover up to 7 square miles! When the radar detects movement the infrared detector zooms in 3 seconds to that location and determines if the motion is caused by a human.  If the answer is yes, the super high resolution camera zooms in and starts taking pictures, but at the same time, puts two red laser sights on the intruder and tracks them using the radar whenever they move!  The video coming in is of HD quality in both day and night.  They have already sold a few of these to people with large compounds at a cost of $500,000 and up.  This is a company very serious about the best security.  Audio Advice is proud to have them as our supplier of cameras and DVRs.

The matching landscape satellite speaker

The matching landscape satellite speaker

James Loudspeakers is one of our favorite outdoor speaker companies. They make a landscape system that consists of small satellites that look like landscape lights and an in-ground subwoofer.  They have a new totally over the top product that came out of a funny story.  A very famous NBA player with a residence in Florida put in a huge system in his back yard with 12 of the 12” James subwoofers and close to 100 of the landscape satellites.  It rocked the neighborhood so much, his next door neighbor asked the dealer who put it in to out do it.  The dealer called James and the 21” in ground subwoofer was invented.  Yes, a 21” in ground sub!  It weighs almost 200 pounds and you have to hoist it into the ground.  The neighbor put in 4 of these and within 60 days, the NBA player had 12 of them!  If you want the best outdoor speaker system, James is a great choice!
