Audio Advice was announced on Monday, Oct. 13th, as a winner of one of TWICE (This Week in Consumer Electronics) Magazine’s 2008 Excellence in Retailing Awards in the categoryBest Audio/Video Specialty Dealer in the US. The national industry honor is determined by the TWICE editorial staff.
The selections were made by the editors of TWICE based on merchandising excellence, store design, customer service, market share, industry contributions, retail innovation, and performance during the 12 month period ending Sept. 30, 2008.
Winners were selected in each of five categories based on channel of distribution and business model. Those classifications are:
• Best National Retailer – Best Buy
• Best A/V Specialty Dealer – Audio Advice
• Best CE/Appliance Dealer – hhgregg
• Best Consumer Direct Dealer – Huppins/OneCall
• Best Vendor Retailer – Apple Store
Scott Newnam, Audio Advice president and CEO tells TWICE that the Raleigh home entertainment retailer and integrator “anticipated the current economic environment and has worked over the past year to “invest to position ourselves [to be prepared] in the event of a downturn” by making improvements to its processing and information systems.”
Additionally, the honor caps a highly successful 12 month period in which Audio Advice continued to grow in overall sales and expansion of service offerings by buying Premier Security and the Raleigh branch of Charlotte based Innovative Systems. From its beginnings in 1978 as a stereo store, Audio Advice now has a 15,000 square foot showroom on Glenwood Ave. in Raleigh and “has evolved to include home theater, home automation, high-performance audio and lighting control as well as security and networking.” A 30th anniversary celebration event is scheduled on Nov. 13th.
