While Audio Advice carries the best products available, it’s our people that truly set us apart.

It has been more than a year since Audio Advice installed my home Network and Television system, and I can't believe how satisfied I still am. Their service department has kept in touch through email and answered my questions on the phone, in person, and through a video conference where they fixed a minor software update problem and product recall. I feel the staff gives me personal attention at a fair price when needed. As an extremely satisfied customer I would recommend their service! I'm so glad I didn't make the mistake and choose a big box store "setup and leave" service!

They not only installed all of our home theater and commercial grade network but have continued to service every problem we have had - to include problems not caused by any of their equipment! From the first contact with Nancy, who can troubleshoot from their main office, to their technicians, they are all top notch!!!!! Today we had the pleasure of meeting Greg Dutcher, a service technician. He kept working on our problems until everything was resolved. When he couldn't figure it out by himself, he collaborated with his colleagues who were more familiar with our equipment. He did not stop until he figured it out and solved our problem!!!!!!! My wife and I wanted to install audio for music in our kitchen, living room, and bedroom.   We also decided to install home automation for lighting control in several rooms. We worked with Jim Williamson and found him to be knowledgeable, honest, and straightforward. The entire design and installation process went smoothly, with no pressure, and was completed ahead of schedule. They have also followed up and helped to troubleshoot when Ive had questions. True to form Audio Advice came through during an AppleTV/Sonos "emergency". Emergency? Ok, maybe an overstatement, but we use these pretty extensively and the thought of not having use for an entire weekend during football season was uncomfortable :). Nancy quickly responded to my inquiry and dispatched Maston and Joe who quickly found a slightly misaligned IR on our AppleTV which was not allowing EVERY command to go through, only a few. Then they quickly assisted me in figuring out why the Sonos app on my iPhone would no longer connect...turns out my iPhone connected to our guest network during a recent reboot. These were minor fixes to these professionals that would have taken me many hours over the course of several days to finally figure out. Their experience is invaluable!

Ivan took the time to patiently listen to my needs, provide excellent technical advice, and walk me through options to meet my price point. The difference between my calibration versus Ivan’s expertise and superior tools was dramatic, resulting in a seamless blend and balance of sound that genuinely rivals the theater experience. The media room upstairs has exceeded all expectations! We had so much fun with all of the family and friends upstairs watching football games and movies! I think that we have watched more stuff upstairs in one week than we have in the entire 3 years that we have lived here.

Let me start out by saying I have not had a great experience with many of the stereo shops in Raleigh, that is until I discovered Audio Advice. I went in last Saturday after discovering that they had the turntable cartridge I was looking for in stock, at the same price as Amazon by the way, and I was truly shocked when I was asked to bring my turntable in a couple days later for them to align my cartridge and calibrate my turntable for free; this is something I have never experienced before at local stereo shops. It seems as if most places do not care about you if you're spending less than a grand, but not here, I purchased a 40 dollar phono cartridge and was treated as if I were buying a $15,000 set of Klipschorns. 100% would recommend!

We LOVE our new seats and have already started putting them to good use. I was telling Karl yesterday that we are down there watching movies or TV almost every night. The power cable arrived yesterday afternoon and last night I put the SP17 into my system. The combination of the SP17 and the Ayre completely transformed it and the results are phenomenal, particularly for vinyl. Both CDs and vinyl sound spectacular, but for vinyl the 3D imaging and the tonal clarity of each instrument are incredibly enhanced. Thanks so much for your help.

Our alarm system is a complex one with a remote building and distant wireless sensors that all need to be tied into the main system at the house. When Lee’s team came to do the lightning repair, even with this complex setup they were able to quickly determine what the problems were and how to use the nonstandard low-voltage wiring infrastructure I have to the remote building to interconnect the two systems seamlessly. More recently when I had a sensor failure, even before the repair Lee was helping us out. Over the phone Lee was able to walk me through the steps to disable only that sensor so we could use the rest of the system and feel safe until a repairman could swap out the defective sensor. This was a very complex set of button presses at the keypad and I was frankly amazed at Lee’s deep knowledge of what to do. I’m pretty sure he was guiding me through these complex steps from his memory. That’s the kind of expertise that is very hard to find nowadays in any technical field.

You have worked hard for decades to build Audio Advice’s reputation and your legions of customers – really fans – are a testament to your success at this. Your team at Audio Advice Security continues to build on that base with every project or repair they engage in. Congratulations on having such a strong team in Security.

For a while now, I’ve been intending to write you about the great work done by Lee and the whole team at Audio Advice Security.

A while back we had to re-build part of our security system due to a lightning strike and more recently we had a sensor fail. In both cases, Lee and his team did a job that served to continue the high quality reputation that Audio Advice has worked so hard over the years to build.

Really knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful team. I had a good experience all the way from initial contact/sales, through implementation and support. They're good and developing a sense for the client's expertise/fluency and meeting them where they are. I'm probably middle of the road. Not nearly as fluent as some; not completely ignorant. I felt like they did a good job of discerning that and matching their counsel to my ability to interpret it. They're almost certainly not the cheapest alternative; I'm relatively confident that you could find another provider to do your job cheaper. But they're probably among the best, if not the best, in the Raleigh-Durham, NC market. They were very flexible and happy to accommodate changes. They were proactive. The initial wiring team, for example, questioned whether we really wanted to attach speakers to some beautiful exposed beams in our new construction and came back to us with an option to embed them in the beams, which made for a better look. They're trying to drive sales and revenue, obviously, so they will make you aware of the full range of purchase options. But that didn't lapse into pushiness or into pushing product. I found it helpful to be made aware of the options. Bottom line for me, I'd retain them again, and I appreciate their counsel and service.

I just want to say thank you for helping with my receiver issues. While the other component video signal upgrading process it not working (my WII doesn’t work either), I have switched everything over to HDMI and I am off and running. Without your advice I would have unnecessarily spent $500 – $1000 dollars in unnecessary service/replacement equipment. While this would have been a small sale for Audio Advice, it would likely have soured me on purchasing from Audio Advice in the future. You taking the time to read my email, call me back and help me find a nearly cost-free solution truly shows your dedication to your customers and has made me a customer for life (and I mean that).

Also, please thank Chad for all the phone calls and walking me through my service options and sticking with me while we went over countless services options (many discussed multiple and multiple points in time).

I visited Audio Advice on 10/08/13 to audition the Golden Ear Triton Two speakers to replace my current speakers. Ivan was exceptionally knowledgeable, experienced and patient while he listened to my needs; then led me to the listening room. I was impressed with the sound and said I would return with my wife for her audition time. When I made my purchase and they wouldn’t fit into my car, Ivan offered to deliver them and perform the set-up.

I have also heard nothing but good things from what I’ve read about GoldenEar speakers. Sandy has an amazing ear and that truly shows in the products. I demoed the Aon’s I now own back in the spring, and was left amazed at their transparency and imaging. First I must apologize that this was not sent to you sooner, due to health issues I have. About three weeks ago Audio Advice installers along with your Charlotte Gen. Mgr. were at my house to install my SONOS system that I have been wishing for since we moved into our home three years ago. (I have Jimi Hendrix on throughout the house as I write this) I love it, no regrets deciding on it and deciding on Audio Advice to purchase it from.. Jim was fantastic to deal with. I’ve been a customer of Audio Advice over 20 yrs and for the past 3yrs. I’ve been working with Ivan Halbach, upgrading our 2 channel home music system. Recently my wife and I visited Audio Advice from out of town to audition speakers Ivan had previously suggested we might like. We were blown away by his accommodation to our tight schedule as well as his preparation for this appointment. First of all, the only day we had available to visit was a Monday, when AA is normally closed. No problem. Ivan told us to let him know when we were 30 minutes away from the store and he would meet us there. Moreover, he retrieved playback equipment that had previously been loaned out to others to closely emulate our system at home. Needless to say, the audition went very well. The speakers looked gorgeous and performed beautifully, at a level uncannily approaching live concert quality. More importantly, through Ivan’s diligence and expertise, the sound of the speakers in the showroom truly reflected the high performance we now enjoy in our home. Many thanks, Ivan, for going beyond the extra mile in helping us to make an informed selection of speakers we will enjoy for a long time! These guys did our theater retrofit and were great. I’m kind of a want-to-be home theater nerd so I’d already had some ideas how I wanted things and some equipment I wanted to use. Randy listened and made some additional great suggestions. Ultimately he worked with me to reach a quote I was happy with. Karl and James came out to do the install and were top notch. They were courteous, knowledgeable and cleaned up every tiny scrap of wire and bit of sawdust when they were done. They consulted me on what I wanted before they made a cut or ran a wire. I’d even had some trouble mounting one of the shelves in my equipment closet (something we’d agreed I’d do before they arrived) and they quickly and easily cut a notch in the shelf so it fit snugly where it needed to go. At the end they walked me through everything they’d done and made sure to answer all of my follow up questions.

I’ve just had Audio Advice cable my home in preparation for home automation. The difficulty was that the house is about 20 years old so cabling needed to be retro fitted. A very challenging task in a multi-storied, 6,000 sq ft building. With only three small repairs needed to the dry wall they managed to re-cable the entire building. Amazing! VERY VERY impressed and the crew, Richard, Paul, Danny, Ken and Karl managed to achieve this in an incredible 3 days!

I have been doing business with Audio Advice for many years and wanted to share a few comments. I recently decided to go back to analog and purchase a turntable. Dustin Clemens provided top notch expert advice on the various turntable, cartridge, and phono stage options available to me. We discussed the types of music that I would be listening to and he narrowed the choices down based on that as well as the rest of my system. When the turntable arrived, Dustin installed and calibrated the cartridge and tested it on one of the systems in the store. When I ran into a slight issue hooking it up that evening, Dustin responded to emails at 9:00 at night so that I could put a record on and enjoy the music. Over the top client service and the result was fantastic.  I could not provide a higher recommendation for both Audio Advice and Dustin in particular. He’s worked with me on past components and systems including speaker placement, DACs, cables, amplifiers, etc. His advice and recommendations are always practical and spot on. On occasion he has even steered me away from costlier options that would not ultimately result in any discernible incremental benefit in my system.  Thanks for the great service, honesty, and expertise!

I wanted to write to let you know how thrilled I am to have discovered Audio Advice.  I must tell you that Steve proved to be exactly who I was looking for. He immediately understood the problem, helped me arrange to ship the preamp to you, and then kept me updated about the status of the repair. What was most impressive was learning from Steve that he had identified the problem, but was unable to get parts from Linn since they no longer supported this unit. Steve went out of his way to locate the needed parts out of state and today I learned that my unit is back in good working order and will soon arrive back home. As I was well into my second day of not finding a solution to the absence of sound in my digital system, I once again contacted Mel to help me out. He had me check all connections, was everything where it was supposed to be and asked if we were using the Integra as a pass through. All connections were checked, everything was where it always had been and I thought the answer as to a pass through was yes. Still could only get sound from the TV and Integra through the processor loop on the pre amp. Not able to diagnose the problem over the phone, Mel stopped by late in the afternoon. It took Mel a good 2 to 3 minutes to solve the problem. I think one minute and 50 seconds of the time was to get his coat off. Anyhow, Mel took the speaker connections out of the Integra, (where they have always been) and put them into the Rotel. I never realized that’s where they belonged as the system had always worked with the set up I had created. My fault, but the question that is unanswered and I really don’t care how or why, but why did everything work perfectly or near perfect under my faulty arrangement. The sound I now hear is virtually the same as before I started moving components, but now I know it’s right. Why am I writing this? Ironically I just received a survey from Audio Advice wanting to know about my purchase experience of the Transparent Powerwave 10. I suspect Leon already knows this, but just in case he doesn’t, let this note be my answer to that question and my overall opinion of Audio Advice and it’s people. Leon, it just doesn’t get any better than what you have. This is a perfect example, Ivan on vacation accepts and responds to my emails and my 1,000 questions. Mel takes the time and makes the effort to try and solve my problems with me over the phone. When that doesn’t solve the issue, he comes to my house, gets licked to death by my dogs, and the issue is gone and gives some excellent tips on my project to clean up the spaghetti of wires behind the cabinet.

Leon, your organization is the example other retailers should follow, regardless of the product handled, Audio Advice sets the standard and it is no surprise to me, Audio Advice is the leader. Congratulations.

I've been doing business with Audio Advice since 2001 when they designed and built my first home theater. I am a audio geek so I wanted a theater system that also was able to give me the highest quality audio to listen to my Super Audio CD's (SACD). They were able to give us the best of both audio and video using Genelec studio monitors, Lexicon DSP, and Runco video projector. Audio Advice has guided me through 3 upgrades to my audio and video over the year. I currently have the same Genelec studio monitors (still the best IMO) and a Sony 4k projector, with a Stewart 2.35:1 widescreen configuration. I just purchased a second home and am looking forward to Audio Advice designing and building a new theater. These guys take great pride in what they do. How many times have you completed an ON LINE contact form hoping to get a call back from someone? I was surprised by not only getting one call back but two and both the same day I completed the form. Richard and Jeff covered bookshelves and other accessories in the Bonus Room with plastic and painters tape and removed it upon completion of task. Upon entering the house, both removed their shoes. They vacuumed the floor and around holes in the ceiling and wall as they were cutting and doing wire runs. They checked and verified all parts of the installation with the husband. During the installation of the sub woofer, Jeff and Richard installed the cable run under the base board. They paid attention to detail and making things are eye appealing as possible. Over the years, I have always looked to Audio Advice whenever I was considering upgrading my Home Stereo and TV Systems. Sure I would go to the “Big Box Retailers” to see what they had in stock and what their prices were for the items I was interested in buying, but no one at any of those type stores that I have ever met had the in-depth professional product knowledge and willingness to share that knowledge regardless of whether I was actually ready to buy at that time. They always seem to be transaction driven, and the professionals at Audio Advice, and Keegan in particular, are always willing to listen to what you want, and then talk to you about all of the various options that can meet your needs. They do not try to sell you the most expensive things Audio Advice sells, they listen to you and offer to sell you what you need. It may be that what you need is a more expensive option, or it may be less expensive option, but they only recommend the “correct option and application” based on what you have told them and the parameters of your home’s layout.

Recently, I upgraded my entire Home Stereo System which I had installed 12 years earlier with Keegan of Audio Advice’s help. At that time, Keegan advised me to keep using the high-end Yamaha Stereo System that I had bought 20 years earlier while stationed in Japan in the USMC. Although there was newer technology, I could not achieve better stereo sound in the price range I was trying to stay within, so Keegan advised me not to waste money on a newer stereo, but to invest the money I was willing to spend on high-end B&W Speakers paired up with my existing power unit. It was great advice, and the system ran great and wide-open.

12-years later, that same system was still running strong, but I wanted to look into the new wireless technologies and seamless interface with Apple I-Phone’s, I-Pads, and I-Tunes, etc. Keegan came over and took a look, and we decided the best thing to do was to keep all of my B&W speakers in place, switch to Sonos, and add a new digital amplifier because we like to crank it up. Everything was installed the day before we planned to have a dinner party. However, the day of my party, I added an Apple Air Express to my computer system, and what I thought would be a simple installation, inadvertently disconnected my new Sonos system. I called Keegan in a panic for “over the phone how-to instructions”, and within one hour, he and two friends came to my house, fixed all the software updates that I had messed up, and the party started. Several people at that party were so impressed by Keegan and Audio Advice’s commitment to service to be there at night to make that system run, they have since purchased similar Sonos systems from Keegan at Audio Advice.

My wife liked the convenience of the Sonos system so much that we have added even bigger B&W speakers, to the kitchen and porch, and relocated my 12-year old B&W’s from those rooms to other rooms. Again, Keegan just listened to what I wanted, told me how to do it, and not waste what I had already spent. Audio Advice is the only way to go.

I’ve enjoyed quality audio equipment since the 1970s and home theater since 2001. A co-worker took me to Audio Advice about seven years ago. My home theater setup based around ERA speakers, a Rotel receiver, and, most recently, a JL subwoofer sounded pretty good, although I knew there was room for improvement in balancing my sub and speakers. Ivan came out to my home today to optimize my audio setup. The difference is remarkable. Bass is tighter and more balanced, and the increase in detail across the audio spectrum actually had me laughing out loud. Just wanted to tell you how grateful I am to Lee Campbell for his after-hours assistance last evening when our power was off. I called him when I was having trouble silencing a loud beeping noise coming from our security keypads. (A long power outage had activated the beeping due to drained back up battery.) They are awesome. They really know their stuff. I have a very botched home audio system that was attached to my TV. It was a sound system for my house that was installed in the wrong way and we have been piece by piece correcting it. They are just great. They charge me by the hour to have something fixed but they did such a good job I was glad to pay it. I’ve used the Geek Squad and there is no comparison. They were fantastic. I am satisfied. I have been an Audio Advice customer for several years. My spending is on the low to moderate end, and my sales consultant, Ivan knows this. Now, in spite of the fact that I am not a big spender, Ivan always spends the necessary time to make sure that my purchases will provide the highest level of satisfaction. Here is a recent example: Ivan was scheduled to visit my home to dial in my speaker positions. There is a charge for this service (on equipment not purchased at AA) and I was happy to pay. In less than 30 minutes, Ivan had measured the room, moved the speakers, and validated the placement with his arsenal of reference discs. I would never have imagined putting the speakers further toward the wall – but what a difference! I was like getting a serious upgrade! The best part? Ivan said that this really wasn’t much work and that he wasn’t going to charge me. Now, I am not implying that freebies abound. Rather, I am using this as an example of the dedication to service rather than shooting for the quick, immediate payoff. There will be a day in my future when I can make a large purchase. Ivan will be my first phone call when that happens.

This was a two day job. The first day they showed up on time and the guys got to work running all the cabling required for the home theater, internet, and alarm system. I first went into Audio Advice back before Christmas to look around. I wanted to replace my 1995 eraaudio system. I talked for a long while with Dustin Clemens who gave me a lot of great suggestions. I returned to Charlotte and hooked up my new equipment and immediately realized my old 1995 McIntosh 2 way speakers were too out of date. This time I went to see Dustin. Again, he spent a lot of time with me and brought me up to date on the latest developments in not only high end audio but also all the possibilities afforded by digital music. He worked with me on speaker selection and after much deliberation I chose a set of Vandersteen speakers. I also purchased a set of Transparent TW10 speaker cables and a DACKIT. After a couple of weeks listening to the new speakers, Dustin came to my house and correctly positioned them. My sound had improved but still not really where I wanted it to be. Before Christmas, when I first talked to Dustin he recommended a digital set up using a Mini Mac. I chose to go with a Sonos system. And when I bought the DACKIT and the speaker cables Dustin had suggested the next level of components. I did not listen to his suggestions. And Audio Advice sold me what I asked for. And those selections still did not give me what I wanted sonically. So now I have upgraded to an iDAC, Transparent Music Wave Plus speaker cables, a Mini Mac and a host of high end USB and fiber optic cables. My system sounds as good as I think $15000.00 can sound. I realize that Dustin was right when I first spoke with him back before Christmas. Audio Advice worked with me in revamping my system and replacing the components I mistakenly purchased from them. They treated me with a generosity I did not expect regarding the previously purchased DACKIT and the speaker cables. During all of this not once did Dustin or any of the staff at Audio Advice make any comments or negative reflections that I had originally used another audio dealer or did not listen to their previous suggestions. What Dustin and the staff did for me was to treat me like I was a long time customer who had always bought from them. I cannot give Audio Advice a higher recommendation than to say I will be a customer for years to come. If you want to deal with a company that is professional, knowledgeable, helpful and carries all the top brands you need look no further than Audio Advice.

I was very impressed when I opened the letter you sent after my recent purchase at Audio Advice. It is a relatively small thing, but I have never received a letter from a shop thanking me and opening a door for communication after a purchase – especially since it was only a low priced cable. I have heard it said that a wise man searches for a great shop and salesman, then purchases equipment – more important to establish a relationship than seeking a certain price or even a certain brand. Of course I enjoyed my interaction with Ivan, and he was a huge help in troubleshooting a situation I had with my Peachtree Nova (that I desperately wish I had bought from your shop). I have a friend who purchased several items through Ivan, and what he has said about the quality of the experience was certainly reinforced. I recently added a few items to my home set up and although I wasn’t spending BIG $$, Dustin makes his customers feel as if they are. Audio Advice is very customer service oriented. I went in to look at subwoofers and was assisted by Ivan. He asked what is was looking for and spent time with me listening to several different products. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He recommended the JL audio sub and offered to loan it out to me for a few days to take it home and try it out. Once I got it home, I had a problem hooking it up. I called Ivan and told him about the problem. To my amazement, he offered to come to my house on a Sunday morning to assist me in hooking it up. He even went the extra mile and calibrated my other speakers. It is not often that you find that kind of customer service anymore. I appreciate Audio Advice and Ivan for being there for my audio/video needs. The JL Audio subwoofer he recommended could not be better.

We worked with Lee Campbell to upgrade our home security system to incorporate cellular communications and to give us access to the system via the internet. The installation was smooth and the system works exceptionally well. The Best Customer Service! My journey started a month ago with a trip to several local Charlotte audiosuppliers. I entered Audio Advice and never looked back. From design, to help finding other top notch vendors, to the installation of the finalized products I have been overjoyed with my experience. I was never pressured with any “upselling” tactics and was always given the answer that would make my room sound and look the best it could. Audio Advice made several trips to my house to make sure the schematics and the equipment would be perfect for my configuration. The level of customer service is perhaps the best I have ever dealt with.  A perfect example of this is when I was able to change the color of my AV rack (that I wrongfully selected) at 10:00pm (via email) and was responded to that very same night!!!! Nowhere else would someone receive that level of customer service during non-business hours. While I know that I am being repititious, some things bear repeating, to me. On friday I had two OPPO BDP-93s installed( somehow I seemed to have done this piecemeal with this last bit coming as a result of Mark telling me, upon my asking about my BluRay players, that Leon would not be able to stand them given the system that you all had put together for me). Mark Kess and Dusty teamed up to get the OPPOs in stock and on the schedule in very short order as a special favor. Then Ryan and Mike did their usual superb job of installation. What sets your people apart, aside from their technical expertise and depth of knowledge, is their passion for what they do. It is obvious that it is not just a job for them, but something they love doing. All of them seem to get a real kick and sense of satisfaction out of doing things right and seeing a customer’s eyes light up upon hearing and seeing what they have done. Ain’t it all good fun…

We’ve been dealing with Lee Campbell and his staff at Audio Advice Security for about three years now and have been really impressed with their honesty, professionalism, and commitment to customer service. We’ve used them for our alarm monitoring since 2008 and just recently had them upgrade our system. The guys who did our upgrade (David Ely and Danny Heulitt) were on time, thorough, very pleasant, and did a great job cleaning up after they were done. On top pf all of that, their prices are very reasonable. Lee gives all of his clients his personal mobile phone number, with instructions at call any time – weekends, late at night, etc. We’ve taken him up on this offer a couple of times and he’s always been available. I’ve recommended him to a couple of friends and their experiences were similar to mine. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I love this doggone thing! I have listened to more music with more variety than I have in a long time. It’s fantastic. Everything works fine except it seems like some stuff in my iTunes is accessible and some isn’t. (My desktop with iTunes was not at home when the Sonos was installed because it was getting a power supply replacement, so I had to sync that up myself.) I’ll figure that out eventually, I guess. I find I listen to a wide variety of radio stations and Pandora. Since I already have XM Radio in the car, I’m considering getting the internet add-on. Thanks for steering me to the Sonos. I’m trying to get some other guys at work interested in it.
