Audio Advice was founded in 1978 as a two-channel high performance stereo store. We are one of the few stores of our size in the country who still focus on great gear for music. With several great listening rooms in both our Raleigh and Charlotte locations, our friendly staff is always willing to help you find the right combination of components for your system. If this requires comparing various products, not only are we equipped to do this – we love to do it!
Knowing the Way Forward
Audio Advice was one of the first dealers to get into the new wave of digital music. Storing music on a hard drive has advantages from a management and archival standpoint, but the cool thing is, if done right, it sounds fantastic!
We learned about this when Peter McGrath of Wilson Audio played us music from his hard drive that he had recorded. It sounded far better than any CD player in the store. Our staff can show you how to get started in this area with product selections from:

The Best Product Range
When it comes to the heart of your component system, Audio Advice has great variety. We offer both separate components and integrated amps from:
As always, we are happy to set up comparisons for you. It’s really amazing the difference you hear when you step up from an all in one receiver to separate components. We even allow you to take components home on loan over the weekend to hear them in your own system!
The Best Tube Amplifiers
High performance stereo enthusiasts all over the world debate the question: do you prefer tube or solid-state components? The first electronics for music reproduction used vacuum tubes. Later, solid-state devices replaced tube components, but for many music lovers the tube sound remained the best. At Audio Advice you have the best of both worlds! Audio Research and McIntosh are two of the world’s most popular brands for both tube and solid-state components. Both consistently win awards for their products. In our listening rooms, you can have fun deciding for yourself which kind of sound you prefer.
Yes, We’ve Got Turntables!
Finally, no serious two-channel store is complete without a great selection of turntables. For many people, vinyl still represents the best sounding source we have. Interestingly, of all physical music formats, vinyl is the only one with sales increases over the past several years. We offer turntables from Sumiko/Project, VPI, Linn, and SME with prices that start around $300 and can go up to $45,000. We also have a wide range of replacement phono cartridges from most current brands. If you need to add a phono stage to your system, we have lots of choices there as well. Please check out our turntable section for more details.
Listening to music is one of the most relaxing things we know of. When your music system is right, it can ease away all of the stress of the day. We invite you let our experts help you create a system you will enjoy daily for many, many years to come!
